This style of saw is known as a jeweler’s saw, fret saw, or piercing saw. Each one of this saw's components is precisely forged before being hand filed and fit together. The frame and hardware is embellished with file ornamentation and heat treated to give it the proper rigidity. It is set on a turned handle with a brass ferrule.
